Government commends PSMAS officials attending the official opening of Neromwe clinic in Chiredzi commended PSMAS for its support towards bringing healthcare services close to the people.
Speaking during the official opening of the clinic constructed by the Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) with assistance from community members and other corporates, AFZ Air Marshal Elson Moyo said PSMAS intervention with medical equipment and sundries was commendable.
He said the AFZ had completed construction of the clinic but it lacked essential equipment and sundries.
“The AFZ was made aware of the plight of the Neromwe community in accessing health services as the nearest clinic is located 50km from the village.
“AFZ then made a commitment to construct a clinic on the spirit of Ubuntu and therefore reached out to its traditional partners to assist in the mobilisation of resources to construct the clinic.”
PSMAS then came in at the right time with hospital beds, blankets and other medical sundries.
Speaking at the same occasion, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira applauded PSMAS for complimenting Government’s developmental programmes.
“We applaud all the organisations that partnered AFZ to make this dream a reality. The villagers especially expectant mothers were really struggling to get access to healthcare since they had to walk for many kilometres to their nearest facility. This clinic will make a huge difference to the Neromwe community,” said Minister Chadzamira.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, PSMAS Marketing and Member Services Director, Mr Edgar Makore said partnering with the AFZ in construction of Neromwe clinic was in line with PSMAS vision of universal access to affordable healthcare for all.
Mr Makore said PSMAS was in the process of crafting products and packages for marginalised communities, which will see all people in rural areas in a position to also join medical aid.
